Arrowhead Quay, Canary Wharf, London
2007-2008 (£90M estimated construction value)

McHenry Consulting Engineers for WSP

Arrowhead Quay is a proposed 29 storey office building for a 0.6 hectare site located immediately adjacent to the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and the southern side of the West India South Dock. It is a glass clad building of reinforced concrete core and steel framed structure with double basement.

Our role was primarily focused on the substructure scheme and detailed design with a checking role for the superstructure. Activities included design meetings with contractor to develop the top-down construction method, regular design team meetings to coordinate design from scheme to construction issue. Design aspects carried out include secant pile wall capping beam, pad foundations, RC suspended slabs, RC and steel columns, and connection of RC elements to steel columns, co-ordination of all services to basement the plant rooms and through the secant wall.
