London Bridge Place, 2008

McHenry Consulting Engineers for WSP

The redevelopment of London Bridge Place includes The Shard building and a medium rise 20-storey building known as London Bridge Place (LBP). LBP provides prime office accommodation and associated support functions, retail and infrastructure links on a highly constrained site. The structural form is designed to maximise the development potential of the site, whilst satisfying the complex below ground constraints posed by London Underground’s (LU) Northern and Jubilee tube lines and associated assets in the immediate vicinity, and to cater for the “Thameslink-2000” overground rail line proposed immediately adjacent the building. Throughout the design process the goal has been to deliver an elegant structurally efficient building, appropriate for its position in close proximity to the The Shard Tower.

Substructure design development and coordination for stage-D options.

Preparation of construction scheme designs for 16 separate elements of work that modify existing assets owned by London Underground in order to gain approval from them for the stage-E design process.
